Christian Bale Denies Assault Allegations

Christian Bale has denied assault allegations made by his mother and sister that briefly landed him in police custody on Tuesday. Attorneys for the Batman actor issued a statement after his release from a London jail. "Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale." Sources told the Daily Telegraph that Bale was accused of lashing out at his family members in an argument over a long-running dispute. Sixty-one-year-old Jenny Bale said on Tuesday, "Yes I was there and yes there was a family situation but the police are handling it and I cannot say anymore at the moment. We didn't call the police to the scene. I can't say anymore but we didn't call the police." The two women reportedly went to authorities with their complaint on Monday, but The Sun claims that police decided not to intervene until after the European premiere of The Dark Knight, which was scheduled for that evening. Bale is set to revisit with police in September, pending a further inquiry. The Sun claims that the alleged assault took place Sunday evening in Bale's suite at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Bale stars as Batman in The Dark Knight, which just took in a record $158.4 million over its opening weekend at the U.S. box office.
