Barenaked Ladies Cancel Disney Appearance After Cocaine Arrest
|
|
Barenaked Ladies have bowed out of Disney's Music Block Party tour shortly after the group's lead singer Steven Page was arrested on cocaine charges. According to their website, the guys decided it was best not to take part in the family-oriented outing because of the circumstances. Band manager Terry McBride writes "Members of the band completely support Steven Page, but we don't want to put Disney in an awkward position before issues involving Steven's arrest are resolved." The group has been wiped from the tour's website. They Might Be Giants have already replaced Barenaked Ladies on at least one tour stop. The 38-year-old vocalist was arrested for cocaine possession earlier this month. He pleaded not guilty and intends to "strongly contest" the charges when he heads to court next month. Barenaked Ladies recently released a children's album, and plan to hit the studio later this year. Despite the recent arrest, they say "it's business as usual." |
